Basilius Besler (1561–1629) was a German botanist, apothecary, and artist best known for his botanical masterpiece Hortus Eystettensis (1613). Commissioned by the Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt, the book features over 1,000 detailed engravings of plants, showcasing their beauty and scientific accuracy. Besler's work remains one of the most significant early botanical publications.
